Hey Ian, was researching the Ian Martin from U.N. mission in East Timor, but came across your blog. Feel the same about reaching 40, and glad to hear of someone with similar political interests. Don't give up the blog, never know who might see you.

The shop on bathwick hill doesn't have very competitive prices, and I welcome new Tesco store, as I know many other do who currently have to walk quite far for decent priced shopping.

Hi Ian,

I saw your comment on car sharing on the City Car Club website and was wondering I could include it in an article I am writing on car sharing for the website http://www.climatechange.eu.com/. It's an EU Commission website aimed at young people.

Hope this is possible and look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Neil Maclean

Hi,

I've added your blog to GreenFeed at http://www.greenfeed.org.uk/feeds/

GreenFeed checks blog RSS feeds every 30 minutes and acts a central site to read dozens of notable Green blogs (I also send headlines to Twitter).

If I haven't yet uploaded a picture of you, or you don't like the one I have, can you send me a new one?

Also, please consider linking to GreenFeed from your blog.

I hope you find it useful.

Cheers,

Hi Ian, thanks for the mention.

Yes, until we know these positions will be contested its always going to be hard to get very inspired.

Because these announcements are early I'm banking on contested elections not just with these high profile positions but for other national executive positions too.

Nominations will now close on the 31st (due to the delay in getting out Green World) and people will need to be *national* members on or before this date in order to vote in September.

Here in the UK, our courts ruled that a Registrar at the London Borough of Islington can refuse to conduct same-sex civil partnership ceremonies because it offends her religion.

It offends me to think that a public employee should be encouraged to discriminate against customers solely on their sexuality. I wish the Borough of Islington every success in their appeal against this egregious ruling by the court.

While I find this comment extremely offensive in parts, I have approved it because I believe in free speech - and also I think the comment demonstrates that religion propogates bigots.

It signifies the bigotry that still exists today - bigotry that remains endemic within religion which uses an outdated story to discriminate against gays.

And a disgusting bigoty that continues to suggest that homosexuality and paedophilia are in some way linked.

Disgraceful.

I'm very happy with your efforts Ian. Once the news of this broke I immediately boycotted Heinz goods. Who knew that Branston's and store own brands actually taste a lot better when you know that its free of discrimination. I applauded Heinz the day I saw the deli-mayo ad and now salute away my Heinz products from my pantry to the landfills.
