Boycott the half-baked bean company that is Heinz
Catching up with Brothers & Sisters on 4oD – the fantastic download service from Channel 4 – and the latest episode ends with Kevin Walker proposing to his gorgeous boyfriend Scotty Wandell.
The episode shown on E4 on Monday evening ended with the two men kissing – men kissing on an American television show was inconceivable until a few years ago.
I wonder how many people complained about this week’s episode of Brothers & Sisters… was the switchboard at Channel 4 jammed with viewers furious at being exposed to a scene of two men kissing?
If so, was it more or less than the 215 complaints received about the Heinz Deli Mayo advert which also featured two men kissing.
The half-baked bean bosses at Heinz pulled the advert after coming under pressure from 0.00035% of the population in the UK.

I’m very happy with your efforts Ian. Once the news of this broke I immediately boycotted Heinz goods. Who knew that Branston’s and store own brands actually taste a lot better when you know that its free of discrimination. I applauded Heinz the day I saw the deli-mayo ad and now salute away my Heinz products from my pantry to the landfills.

Here in the UK, our courts ruled that a Registrar at the London Borough of Islington can refuse to conduct same-sex civil partnership ceremonies because it offends her religion.
It offends me to think that a public employee should be encouraged to discriminate against customers solely on their sexuality. I wish the Borough of Islington every success in their appeal against this egregious ruling by the court.
