Bath & North East Somerset Greens select prospective parliamentary candidates
Bath & North East Somerset Green Party has selected Eric Lucas and David Edler to be the prospective parliamentary candidates for the Bath and North East Somerset constituencies.
Following a ballot of Green Party members within Bath & North East Somerset, Eric Lucas, an occupational therapist at the Royal United Hospital, was selected to stand in the Bath constituency.
Formerly a Green councillor in Oxford, 43-year-old Eric has lived in Bath for six years and stood for the Greens in Bath at the last general election in 2005 when he secured more than 5% of the vote.
Eric is hoping to build on the success of the recent local council elections when the Greens secured up to 20% of the votes in some wards in the city and were just 38 votes away from winning its first council seat.
Theatrical agent and parish councillor David Edler, 44, has been chosen to stand for the Green Party in the new constituency of North East Somerset, currently known as the Wansdyke constituency.
It is the first time that the Green Party has selected a prospective parliamentary candidate for this constituency and this reflects the growing support for the Greens throughout Bath & North East Somerset.
Earlier this year David became the Green’s first ever parish councillor within Bath & North East Somerset when he was elected to Peasedown St John Parish Council.
During his short time on the parish council he has brought about a change in the recycling policy of the council which is now seeking to use recyclable materials for all council business.
