One in 94 million!
Having just joined the blogosphere, I find I am not alone! According to an article in today’s Guardian, there are 94 million blogs worldwide…
… and bloggers are uniting to form a union. For what purpose, I have yet to discover and can not imagine what it would aim to achieve. Better pay? Improved working conditions?
As a journalist on weekly and daily local papers, I was a member of the National Union of Journalists, among the biggest and best-established journalists’ unions in the world (www.nuj.org.uk).
While the NUJ fights hard for the rights, conditions and pay of Britain’s journalists – many of whom are poorly paid – I suspect a bloggers’ union would have little to offer.
Would a regulator to guide the internet user through the bewildering mass of blogs be a more useful body? Blogoff, perhaps?
